Artist Statement

I can barely identify an emotion let alone describe it to you but this is what I am trying to do with my work. I am trying to convey my emotions at a given time through my art, sometimes it is isolation, other times love, at times hopelessness, in the best of times optimism.

I have a strong desire to create art that moves me. When my work is going well I have a great sense of accomplishment. It provides a sense that all is right in “my world”.

My preferred medium is oil, on either wood or hard board. I find working on a smooth surface allows me to work from a charcoal tonal drawing, progress to tonal oil, and finally apply successive layers of color. I love how soft and forgiving oil paint is when creating pieces.
